Dedeola Awoniyi
Dedeola Taiye Awoniyi is the founder and Creative Director of DEDE, an ethical fashion brand she began with the aim of developing and showcasing Nigerian talent and craftsmanship in fashion. Her introduction to the world of fashion began with her mother who had boutiques that were stocked with corporate womenswear she personally sourced from Milan and New York and sold in Lagos. Her late maternal grandmother was also a well-known seamstress in Ondo town, Ondo state, Nigeria. In November 2019, she officially launched DEDE, which is short for Dedeola, the name given to her by her late seamstress grandmother.
DEDE is a fashion brand that focuses on showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship of Nigerian talents. We are based in Lagos, Nigeria and all our clothes are made ethically with limited waste. We are promoting the culture of excellence in customer service and product quality from Africa by recruiting and training workers locally to improve their skills. They are also economically empowered by the proper financial compensation and additional benefits they receive from us. We operate on a slow fashion model by manufacturing clothing according to demand and we also offer a made-to-measure option for improved customer satisfaction and inclusive sizing.
